Board Announcement – Modern Pentathlon Australia AGM
Dear Members, Athletes and Supporters,
Following the recent Annual General Meeting of Modern Pentathlon Australia, we are pleased to share key updates and outcomes with our valued community.
Firstly, we extend our gratitude to all who attended and contributed to the discussions. Your dedication and commitment continue to shape the future of modern pentathlon in Australia.
At the AGM, we reflected on some of the achievements of 2024, including:
- Australian representation at the Paris Olympic Games, World Cups and the World Championships
- introduction of a contemporary membership platform and website
- receipt of strategic grant funding to acquire international standard OCR equipment
- conversion to a company limited by guarantee
- renewed recognition by the Australian Sports Commission as a National Sports Organisation
We also outlined MPA's strategic priorities for the new Olympic quad (4 year cycle). These include initiatives to strengthen athlete development, enhance competition structures, and broaden community engagement.
In accordance with MPA's constitution, three director roles were put up for election. As no nominations for these roles were received, Maki Takken and Nicole Nicholls were reappointed to the Board, rejoining Ashlee Uren. Expanding and strengthening the Board, and planning for Board succession, will be a priority for this year, and we are working with the Australian Sports Commission to ensure that there are appropriate candidates for appointment.
As we embark on the next phase of our journey, we remain committed to fostering excellence in modern pentathlon, supporting our athletes, and growing the sport across the nation.
Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to a successful and exciting year ahead.
