Modern Pentathlon Australia has zero tolerance for child abuse or neglect in any form.
All children have the right to feel safe and protected from all forms of abuse, harm, and neglect. Children have the right to take part in modern pentathlon in a safe, positive, and enjoyable environment.
Modern Pentathlon Australia is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people in Modern Pentathlon by providing safe and inclusive environments and ensuring that everyone involved in archery is proportionately educated and informed of their responsibilities to protect and look after children and young people.
The MPA Safeguarding Children and Young People Policy sets out the expectations for everyone involved in modern pentathlon, including recruitment recommendations, response obligations and child/young person safe practices.
Working With Children Checks
The National Integrity Framework (NIF) and specifically the Safeguarding Children and Young People Policy mandates that all compels individuals, organisations, committees and Boards, to take steps to be familiar with the relevant legislative requirements and moreover – comply with it.
Are you aware of your State or Territory Working with Children Check (or however named) requirements? Every State and Territory in Australia has legislation in place relating to screening employees and volunteers who engage in child-related work.
Organisations and individuals may be liable for penalties for not fulfilling these obligations. These penalties include fines and/or imprisonment.

Child safe practices and prohibited conduct, including examples
Obligations on sporting organisations in relation to mandatory reporting, responding to allegations of prohibited conduct and implementing a commitment to child safety and child safe practices
The process for the recruitment and screening of volunteers and employees, including conducting working with children checks
