Jawid Khawar joins MPA to spearhead national technical and development initiatives
MPA is pleased to announce that Mr Jawid Khawar has joined the MPA leadership team in a new role, made possible by the Australian Sports Commission through a specific extension of our pathways workforce funding.

In this role, Mr Khawar will lead and manage the development of MP and specialist coaches to identify talent, support high performance athletes and optimise athlete performance at key benchmark events. He will also play a key leadership role in developing a long term athlete, coach and technical official development strategy, and in helping to reshape the way the sport is delivered in Australia.
Given the strategic importance of building the sport's presence in Queensland, Mr Khawar and his family will be based in Brisbane. However, he will have a national remit.
Mr Khawar is a dynamic sports management professional with a master’s degree specializing in event management and strategic planning, coupled with over a decade of extensive experience in high-performance sports organizations. He comes to Australia with proven expertise in leading performance analysis, strategic planning, and business development with a strong record of success within the Egyptian Modern Pentathlon Federation.
Mr Khawar was Deputy Chef de Mission for the Afghani Olympic team in Rio 2016. He was awarded Coach of the Year by the UIPM in 2023 for fostering athletic success, and in 2024 he was elected by Congress to be the UIPM Executive Board Member for Development. He is also a UIPM level 3 Technical Delegate.
With LA'28 in sight and Brisbane 2032 just over the horizon, Mr Khawar is eager to contribute his strategic vision and leadership to advance modern pentathlon in Australia and in Oceania, and we are delighted to have him join our wonderful and welcoming pentathlon community.
