Australian Relay Teams Deliver Strong Performances at Pentathlon World Championships in China

Australia’s Modern Pentathlon relay teams have produced determined performances at the 2026 UIPM World Pentathlon Championships in Guiyang, with the men’s and mixed relay combinations gaining valuable experience on the international stage.

Nicholas Odgers and Oliver Clapham finished 18th in the men’s relay, scoring 864 points in a highly competitive field. Their score was reduced by an elimination in the obstacle discipline, but both athletes showed resilience and will now turn their focus to the individual competition.

Aleska Van Heekeren and Kai Klisanin placed 13th in the mixed relay with 891 points. With the obstacle phase cancelled due to rain, the Australian pair’s total comprised:

●Fencing: 208 points

●Swimming: 1:00.69 – 297 points

●Laser Run: 15:14.00 – 386 points

The event marked Klisanin’s international debut. Competing alongside the experienced Van Heekeren, he helped deliver a composed performance against a strong international field.

The relay results provide Australia’s athletes with important high-level experience and valuable momentum as the championships move into the individual events.

Attention now turns to the men’s individual qualifications, where Klisanin, Levi Tubailagi, Clapham and Odgers will represent Australia.
